Snippets of life.

So, I've been trying to document my life at the moment through Instagram as I have been so busy. Be it on my 15minute walk to get picked up from work or just my reflection in the mirror to showcase my outfit.
The walk in the morning is so enjoyable when the sun is shining, everything is so green and luscious because of the copious amounts of rain we've had of late. I was out in the garden at the weekend on my day off, planting some vegetables.
My day's off go by so quickly I have been trying to be as productive as possible and making the most of it, even if that means going out for lunch with my boyfriend like we did yesterday. We drooled over the cakes below on sale in Carluccio's.
Trying my hardest to feel inspired each day with my outfit for work. Restricted to wearing black, it's never that exciting when you don't have the choice. I wore my disco pants the other day (above) which felt a bit too jazzy for work but nonetheless, it was nice to wear something different for a change, to my usual bits.
Now that my boyfriend can drive, I have the freedom of staying at his of an evening when I've got work the next day. I never had the luxury before as the bus journey would take too long and I would have to wake at silly times of the morning.
Yesterday on my day off we took his dog out for a walk and I wore a skirt a friend of ours gave to me after digging it out of her wardrobe with label still attached. It is very Indian inspired in terms of print and colour and the length is just right.

Bluebell watch.

Good morning.
I've just got back from a morning stroll as it looked so delightful outside, boy did I misinterpret the temperature though. It was slightly nippy to say the least. With a lot of writing work to get done today I escaped outside before I found myself cooped up between these walls.

State of play.

As per usual, a selection of photos I've snapped on my phone over the last few days. Most of them are of our time in Sandwich but there are a few from here and there such as the new ukulele in my life.
My blog isn't the only place I have been ranting about learning to play one, my boyfriends grandparents have let me borrow one they had stored away in their cupboard, to learn and practice on. It needs a good tuning but I am that little bit closer to being able to play some songs.
I went with my boyfriend and his nan to see State of Play, my boyfriend's grandad's band, play last night. We travelled to Chessington and by the end of the night we were both quite tipsy. I hardly drink much so I'm always quick to get giggly.
I channelled a nineties Liv Tyler yesterday, when she is Empire Records. Wearing my small grey crop jumper and a little camel A-line skirt, I dug out and dusted off my DM's to wear with it and immediately felt like I had time travelled back by 15 years.
I hope everybody else had an enjoyable weekend and have an exciting week ahead of them. What did everybody get up to?

My instagram username is pickletreat, if anybody is interested in following me.

Accents of the day.

As well as capturing a handful of photographs with my camera, I also got a lot more detail with my phone today, whilst at the farm. Henceforth, I share with you a closer look at my day through the gift of Instagram.
Cherry prints, peeled turquoise paint, retro radios, teeny windows & weathered roof tiles and a mix and match kitchen.
Outside toilets, girlish annual illustrations, rotary dials and vinyls.
Painted leather, pink wooden slats and climbing blossom trees.
Baking, little pink chapels, patchwork, vintage photos, green doors and detailed letterboxes.
Hymn numbers, blue, wooden buildings, decayed trunks and union flags.
Cobblers, haberdashery, plentiful drawers, buttons and a writers paradise: desk and typewriter.

Instagram week.

Good day.
I hope everybody has been stuffing themselves with chocolate. I popped over my boyfriend's grandparents this afternoon, to see his family. I decided to leave out the image of me dressed in a Street Pastor's outfit (cap, polo shirt and fleece). The full works. (You can see it on my twitter) It didn't take much persuasion to get me in the outfit and posing for a round of photos on people's phones.
When I wasn't dressed as a Street Pastor, I wore my grey Zara dress over my shirt, brogues and socks (bottom right).
The two images up top are from the past week and the photograph bottom left is of my boyfriend and I with his new baby cousin.

Bronze medal.

As I mentioned the other day, last night I went to a Arts quiz my brother and a group of his friends put on in London in a small pub by the Barbican. We (my best friend Hannah, an old friend of my brothers and I) came third which we were pretty impressed with and all together, the evening was a success. I wore a striped jumper (which may not come as a surprise, I am addicted to breton stripes) with my navy blazer, red jeans and my tan penny loafers. Particularly preppy, if I do say so myself.
I went into town with my mum today as she needed to get some crafting bits and pieces but we also ended up having a look around a few shops. Slightly disappointing to find there wasn't much to inspire us out at the moment from the high street. However, I have completely fallen for this white and black polka dot dress from Topshop pictured above and below (double the fun) and I've added it to my wish list.
Other pieces added to my wish list: Tomboy Style coffee table book, Lancelot blue bow shoes and this Ditte Sofa from Anthropologie which is so out of my price range but isn't it just so pretty?

Freelance.

Change of plans this morning and I was no longer able to go and play tennis, unfortunately, despite being up early and ready to go. I had my sweatband out in preparation and everything.
T-shirt: Zara/ Shorts: Topshop
I have recently entered into the world of freelance writing, earning money to professionally write pieces for various people and decided today would be spent focusing my attention on getting some articles written.
Tomorrow evening, my brother who lives in London, is holding a quiz in a small pub called the Artillary Arms. It is just a very small distance from the Barbican but anyone is welcome to go. I'm heading up with my dad and meeting my best friend from work in hope of winning. Fingers crossed.

A picnic by a lake.

I made the mistake of forgetting my camera today and had to make do with an iphone and a little bit of Instagram, visiting the park my boyfriend and I sat by the lake. We feasted on a picnic, I regretted not bringing a cardigan and we then climbed some trees. Struggling to climb the tree just reinforced the opinion that I wouldn't survive at the Hunger Games.
It may appear at first glance that I decided to go out in just a skirt (Zara) and collar today but it is in fact a nude sleeveless top from ASOS.

On a side note, I came across this poem yesterday on my tumblr and it just broke my heart.
How pitiful.

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Shirt: Urban Outfitters/Pinafore: H&M/Bag: Accessorize
It had been a while since I'd seen my boyfriend so last night he took me out for dinner. I had just enough time to capture some images of my outfit with my iphone. The food was delicious and we then danced to De La Soul all the way home.
