Snippets of life.

So, I've been trying to document my life at the moment through Instagram as I have been so busy. Be it on my 15minute walk to get picked up from work or just my reflection in the mirror to showcase my outfit.
The walk in the morning is so enjoyable when the sun is shining, everything is so green and luscious because of the copious amounts of rain we've had of late. I was out in the garden at the weekend on my day off, planting some vegetables.
My day's off go by so quickly I have been trying to be as productive as possible and making the most of it, even if that means going out for lunch with my boyfriend like we did yesterday. We drooled over the cakes below on sale in Carluccio's.
Trying my hardest to feel inspired each day with my outfit for work. Restricted to wearing black, it's never that exciting when you don't have the choice. I wore my disco pants the other day (above) which felt a bit too jazzy for work but nonetheless, it was nice to wear something different for a change, to my usual bits.
Now that my boyfriend can drive, I have the freedom of staying at his of an evening when I've got work the next day. I never had the luxury before as the bus journey would take too long and I would have to wake at silly times of the morning.
Yesterday on my day off we took his dog out for a walk and I wore a skirt a friend of ours gave to me after digging it out of her wardrobe with label still attached. It is very Indian inspired in terms of print and colour and the length is just right.

Today was a good day.

Had two phone calls today inviting me for job interviews, enjoyed a marathon of Black books, read some more and went on a nice long walk through the woods and a cornfield.

Parseltongue.

A few new items featured on the Zara website. Zara is without a doubt my favourite shop, it offers both preppy, classic pieces along with more bohemian, ethnic inspired items which hits the nail on it's head when it comes to describing my style.
-
I can always rely on Zara for great striped, Breton-esque t-shirts and comfortable knitted jumpers.
These turquoise snakeskin heels are beautiful, my wardrobe is filled with shoes and only of late have I realised how they all follow a similar pattern of being black. I have always believed when it comes to shoes and bags, that they should always be adventurous but have clearly failed to open my eyes and follow this myself.

Sweet emotion.

I enjoy going out, swaying to the sound of music but sometimes I love just staying in.
During the week I sorted out the spare room so it was able to do what it says on the tin and be spare. My brother moved out a good few years ago now and I have lived in selfish limbo owning two rooms and finally this week I gave in and surprised my mother by sorting it all out and now it is just a delight. I have found myself spending sometime in there since because it is wonderful to be able to go somewhere and sit with yourself.
This evening I have been doing just that (hence the onslaught of posts) and dressing up, trying on items from my wardrobe and dancing around the room to the sounds of Aerosmith, Canned Heat, Dusty Springfield and The Doors among others. I have done this ever since I can remember and despite turning twenty-two this year, I don't think it will ever stop.

All that glitters...
My boyfriend has treated me a lot this week and one such item he treated me to was this Fred Perry Hawaiian shirt. I have wanted one for a while now and I think the yearning for one originally came from seeing this shirt if I remember correctly. However it was very expensive when I saw it originally but we saw it in the sale on a recent shopping trip and he refused to put it down until he had paid for it as much as I said no because of it's price and even after I had walked out of the shop. I love it so much, it is the most perfect Hawaiian shirt, ready for my holiday.
Excuse the creases.

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face...

(Taken on my phone so the images aren't the best of quality)

I have been feeling a mix of preppy/nautical/french this week when it comes to my outfits. I don't know where I would be in this world without Breton stripes in my life.
To celebrate my graduation on Thursday I went out with my boyfriend and friends in the evening and everybody got merry and had such a great time.
I ended up wearing the middle outfit above and wore the outfit on the right, during the day as it was a tad more casual.

Congradulations!

I graduated today and it was just the best! I was so nervous and secretly dreading it this morning if I'm going to be honest but seeing everyone else in the same position as me, dressed in the same gowns, I didn't feel alone and made the most of it.
I wore an orange shift dress from Zara, Zara snakeskin & black suede kitten heels with a slap of Brighton Rock Topshop lipstick as well as my Hogswartish gown. I had to attend Rochester Cathedral annually for seven years whilst at secondary school so it was nice to visit again for a ceremony and be there to celebrate with everyone from my course.
My mother, father, auntie & boyfriend came as guests and after returning my gown and having a quick drink back at university post ceremony we went and had some delicious French food in Cafe Rouge before returning home.
My attitude and thoughts towards my course and university over the three years has sometimes been positive and sometimes negative but today cemented for me how much I have learnt, achieved and changed as an individual whilst there. I have met some great people who have given me the best laughs of my life and I am proud to have celebrated this day with them and ended it all on such a high.

suitcase, stripes and sunshine

outfitpostsuitcase
After doing my usual and searching Alexa on tumblr to see her latest outfits I was shocked to see she had attended the Hop Farm!? Why didn't I know this and see her, sad but wonderful at the same time.
Normally what happens when I give her name a search, I end up with a wet top from all the dribbling, adoring her hair and clothes and ten minutes later I am in my room searching through all my clothes fixing up outfits.
I dug out my old pinafore style dress last night, from Zara a good few years ago now, and having also worn it more dressed up I decided to throw it over my breton jumper [Uniqlo] today with my tan loafers [Zara].
At home we often go through phases with programmes on the tv and overdose on them until my parents and I feel like we know the stars of the shows personally and we've seen all of the episodes. We did it once with CSI and now we do it with the History channel and it's programmes, Pawn Stars and American Pickers. Now because of this my parents have succumbed to visiting boot fairs every weekend to dig out interesting items for the house including a rusty old garden hoe to prop against the wall by my mothers vegetable patch for decoration and the other day they nearly fell owners to an old wooden false leg, decided against it and then spent the rest of their day at home wishing they had purchased it. They treated me the other day however and purchased me an old issue of Vogue and picked up these two old vintage suitcases for me, for free. I have wanted some for ages to use in my room as storage and these ones are perfect, thank you History channel for your influence over my parents.

Life in the fast lane

101_2524
So, it's been a while since I posted last but I have been caught up in a whirlwind of busy bodying around. My boyfriend moved house last week and their internet is yet to be set up so whilst I have been over there, I haven't been able to blog and then on Thursday until Sunday we were away at the Hop Farm Festival which was amazing. I had a super duper time with my boyfriend and his sister and saw lots of great music.
I survived the weekend washing with wet wipes, eating 'just add water' pasta from a pot and burning my forehead to the point it got a teeny bit swollen.
It was scorching hot so I kept my hair up, out of my face the whole time, living in shorts, vests and dresses.

My feet did too much rubbing on the Thursday from my 'Marc Bolan' boots, as my boyfriend calls them, which resulted in having a limp for the rest of the weekend. I ended up living in my old converse and the same red socks wishing with every step,  that I had thrown a pair of flip flops in my bag when packing.

I went crazy with friendship bracelet making during the week leading up to the festival, after following the Honestly...WTF tutorial as I wanted to add some colour to my wrists without paying ridiculous prices . It is also an excellent way to leave you with a gentle feeling of self gratification.

I also found myself constantly eyeing up other people's outfits and getting lots of ideas to work with. I fell in love with these boots as well as the rest of the outfit as my eyes slowly followed upwards in admiration as I sat on the floor melting in the sunshine. It was just perfect from the rings on her fingers to the hair on her head.

Her suede vest left me drooling and pinning for one of my own, sadly it looked vintage so I will just have to continue searching far and wide for something similar.

Celebrations and helium inhalations.

Last night saw the celebration of my brother's best friend's birthday.
The celebration in question was a meal which I took as the perfect opportunity to experiment with my new ardor for colour.
I dug deep into my wardrobe, through all my clothes, waiting at any moment to feel a slight chill run across my skin, rattle my bones and find myself alone next to a lamp post in Narnia.
I discovered an old Topshop bandage skirt in a vibrant orange which I had never previously worn. Ruminating over the skirt for a couple of minutes I decided to dress it down a bit with a plain white American Apparel tee inspired by Raf Simons SS11 collection for Jil Sander, adding a simple turquoise beaded necklace, a touch of Topshop's Brighton Rock lipstick and my classic black pointed heel.
With boyfriend in tow, we headed off to make merry!

Rainy days and Thursdays always get me down

16JuneOutfit

My first outfit post. It is slightly embarrassing and makes me question my outfit over and over but here it is.
I didn't think I would be posting these sort of photos on here but someone suggested I do it. After much deliberating over whether to show my face or cover it up with the help of photoshop, I went with the big face reveal.
Despite previous posts on colour, the weather has subconsciously dressed me in black today, although I snuck in my colourful ethnic looking drawstring bag to go with my tribal-esque necklace.

Jacket - Zara, T-shirt - American Apparel, Denim Shorts - River Island, Bag - Salamander, Boots - Kurt Geiger
